As you might expect from a Bava/Lee teamup, this movie also has a few horror elements (particularly in its vivid depiction of the Underworld), making it a kind of peplum Dark Fantasy
The first one, starring Steve Reeves, is the first movie to be called a "sword and sandal" one.
